How We Help

Forensic Interview

A forensic interview is a neutral fact finding interview to find out what happened.

Referrals for Medical Evaluations/Exams

The multidisciplinary team may decide your child needs a medical exam. Exams are typically needed if the abuse happened within 72 hours or if the child is complaining of pain or has an obvious injury. Medical exams can also be an important part of the healing process.

Behavioral Health Program on-site or Referrals for Mental Health

Professional counseling may help you and your child through this trauma. The Child Advocacy Center staff and the crisis center advocate will help you with information on local child therapists or may be able to provide on-site services.

The effects of abuse can vary greatly from person to person. The important thing to know is that professional support may reduce long term negative effects of abuse by helping your child develop the necessary coping skills they will need to heal.
