Empowering Adults
What is KNOW & TELL
Why KNOW & TELL Matters
- 1 in 10 children in the U.S. experience report their abuse when a child.
- Over 90% of children who are abused know their abuser.
- Most abuse goes unreported—KNOW & TELL® changes that.
- Every adult has a role in the child protection system.
- KNOW & TELL® builds confidence in making reports to the proper authorities.
When adults are educated, informed, and confident in how to respond, children and communities are safer. KNOW & TELL® equips adults with more than knowledge—it gives them the tools to act.
How KNOW & TELL Works
- EDUCATE – Learn to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect.
- INFORM – Understand your role and responsibility to report.
- PROTECT – Take the correct steps to protect and support the child.
This structured approach simplifies the process and empowers adults from all walks of life—teachers, coaches, neighbors, and caregivers—to be part of the solution. Kids are counting on us.
A Nationally Expanding Resource
What began as a state-based effort in New Hampshire is now a vital, scalable model for education and awareness of Child Advocacy Centers nationwide. Through partnerships with Child Advocacy Centers (CACs), KNOW & TELL® continues to grow, offering training, resources, and support to communities committed to child safety. We can only help the kids that we can reach.
